Safa (Arabic: الصّفا‎, translit. Aṣ-Ṣafā) and Marwa (Arabic: المروة‎, translit. Al-Marwah) are two small hills now found in the Great Mosque of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Muslims travel forward and backward between them seven times, over the ritual pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah.
The Great Mosque houses the Ka'bah, the point of interest of prayer for those Muslims. Safa—from that this ritual walking or Sa'i begins—and Marwa are placed approximately 100 m (330 ft) and 350 m (1,150 ft) on the Ka'bah respectively. The distance between Safa and Marwa is around 450 m (1,480 ft), to ensure that seven trips cost you roughly 3.15 km (1.96 mi). The two points as well as the path together are now inside of a long gallery that forms section of the mosque.
